2003 – 2008

• Former promoter Steve Webb, Metropol’s founder and CEO, launched a gig poster delivery service—Metropol Event Poster Services—to meet a growing need in Victoria’s event marketing space.
• Operating from a gymnasium in the Duck Building on Broad Street, Metropol evolved into a poster printing company and publisher of Metropolitan Magazine, a local music and art publication.
• In 2006, Metropol integrated design services, employing numerous graphic designers during what is considered Victoria’s Golden Age of gig posters.
• In 2008, Metropol was incorporated, acquiring digital printing equipment and a manual guillotine cutter to offer comprehensive print services.

2010 – 2015

• In October 2010, Metropol Print opened its first street‐level location in the Atrium building, offering quick turnaround and extended hours.
• In early 2012, the postering and design departments relocated to historic Chinatown on Chatham Street, forming Metropol Studios.
• In late 2012, Metropol entered the large‐format printing market with the opening of Metropol West in Langford.
• In January 2013, the bulk of print operations moved to Metropol Studios, with a renewed focus on quality and innovation.
• Metropol Design Studio opened on the 5th floor of the Wilson Building in September 2013.
• In January 2015, walls were removed to allow Metropol to become one of the largest digital print producers in Victoria.

2016 – 2024

• In January 2016, Metropol Print underwent its first major facelift, featuring outer space, robots, and neon themes.
• In 2024, Metropol consolidated all operations into the Summit Building at 838 Fort St., ideally situated along the bicycle and transit route on the bustling Fort Street corridor.

Metropol Industries, a leading full-service marketing and printing house in Victoria, is excited to announce its relocation to the Summit Building at 838 Fort St. Strategically situated on the bustling Fort Street corridor, our new location offers unparalleled accessibility for both clients and employees.

Conveniently positioned between Blanshard St and Quadra St, the Summit Building is ideally situated on bicycle and transit routes, ensuring ease of access for those commuting to our premises. The new location has on-street metered parking, providing added convenience for visitors.

This move marks an important milestone for Metropol Industries as we continue to grow and expand our operations. By consolidating all departments under one roof—from design and wide format to digital, production, and pre-press—we aim to enhance efficiency and provide an all-inclusive customer service experience.
